See the collection

Steam engine enthusiast from the late 1940s until his death, Stephen also had a passion for photography. He took over a thousand black and white negatives of engines up and down the country including locations in Scotland and Wales. Stephen’s main interest was the engines of the Midland Railway.

A past president of the Midland Railway Society and an authority on Midland Railway locomotives, his extensive knowledge was gained over a lifetime of research culminating in the publication by Irwell Press of 4 volumes entitled Midland Railway Locomotives.
